Gingham wide-leg trousers in sage — check, but soft enough to wear as a neutral.
Gingham is a summer cliché in the wrong hands: too crisp, too bright, too picnic. Scaled down and printed in sage on a fluid ground, it behaves differently — the check reads as a soft texture, close to a plain trouser with something happening inside it. The leg is the same wide column as the rest of the range.
Fluid woven fabric with a light stretch and a matte surface. The check is a small repeat printed on a muted ground, which is what keeps it from looking like tablecloth gingham: the contrast between the two tones is deliberately slight, so at arm's length you see texture rather than squares. The fabric falls in a straight column and holds a light crease-release, so it comes out of a wash looking pressed.
The same wide-leg block as the rest of the range — mid to high rise, covered elastic waist, straight through the thigh and widening below the knee. It sits on the hip bone on a 172 cm model and takes a tucked-in top well. No pocket, again for the leg line: a check is far more sensitive to a shadow breaking across it than a solid colour would be.
The instinct is to pair gingham with white and a straw hat; the better move is to treat it as a neutral and combine it with a heavier texture — a chunky knit, a leather jacket, a dark denim top. Because the check is soft and the ground is sage rather than white, it carries a knit or a boot that a bright gingham could not, and it works equally in September and in June.
Model is 172 cm and wears S. Choose by hip measurement as with all our pull-on wide legs; the elastic waist covers around twenty-four centimetres, so the hip is what decides the drape. Both the inseam and the front rise are in the chart, which matters more on a patched check than on a solid, since you will notice the hem line against the repeat.
Two close tones, so it reads as texture at arm's length rather than as tablecloth gingham.
Comes out of a wash hanging like it has been pressed.
No pockets, so nothing breaks the repeat across the thigh.

All measurements are taken flat with the garment laid out, in centimetres. Allow ±1.5 cm for hand-measured variation.
Pair with a cream chunky knit and a leather boot for a colder-weather version.
A sage or olive top makes the check read as texture rather than pattern.
With a white ribbed tank and flat leather sandals.
A dark denim jacket over a plain top keeps the check quiet.
Machine wash cold and hang to dry; the fabric's crease-release finish means it needs no pressing. Wash inside out to protect the print, keep it away from bleach, and give it the first couple of washes on its own. A cool iron on the reverse is fine if needed, but avoid the waistband channel where the elastic sits.
No. Because the ground is sage with a low-contrast check, it works with chunky knits and boots as readily as with linen in summer.
Same as our other wide-leg pull-ons: choose by hip measurement, since the elastic waist covers roughly twenty-four centimetres.
No. On a check, a pocket bag prints as a visible interruption across the repeat, so we cut them out to keep the leg clean.
